Seminary Writing Coach
Last updated: August 8, 2026
Seminary Writing Coach ("the Add-on," "we," "our") is a Google Docs script created and distributed by Howard Isaacson ("the Developer") for distribution by Success Facilitators, Inc. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Add-on accesses, how it is used, where it is sent, and how it is stored.
Summary
The Add-on reads text from the Google Doc you are working in and sends that text to Google's Gemini API — using an API key that you provide and control — to generate writing feedback for seminary-level academic and theological writing. The Add-on does not collect, receive, or have any server of its own; there is no Developer-operated backend. The Developer never sees your documents, your API key, or your feedback history.
data the Add-on Does Not access
When you click a coaching button in the sidebar, the Add-on:
The Add-on does not access your Google account's email address, your Drive contents outside the active Doc, your contacts, your calendar, or any other Google service.
Terms and Details of the Privacy Policy:
This privacy policy governs the data collection, use, and disclosure practices of our Google Doc add-on (referred to herein as the Application). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency regarding how we handle your information while you utilize our writing feedback services.
1. Information Collection and Use
The Application is designed to enhance your writing experience by providing automated feedback based directly on the content you input into your active Google Doc.
-
Google User Data Collected: The Application accesses the text content of the specific Google Doc where the add-on is currently active solely to transmit that text to the Google Gemini API for analysis and feedback generation.
-
Purpose of Collection: All data accessed is used exclusively to provide real-time editorial suggestions, structural critiques, and writing insights to the user. We do not use your Google user data to train generalized artificial intelligence models.
2. Data Sharing, Transfer, and Disclosure
We respect the confidentiality of your content. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information or Google user data to third parties. We share, transfer, or disclose Google user data strictly under the following limited circumstances:
-
Artificial Intelligence Processing: To provide the core functionality of the Application, the text content from your Google Doc is transmitted securely to the Google Gemini API service provider for processing. This transmission occurs in real-time, and data is handled in accordance with enterprise-grade data privacy and security standards.
-
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or if we hold a good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal processes, protect our rights or property, or ensure the safety of our users and the public.
-
Business Transfers: In the event of a corporate merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, user data may be transferred as part of the transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
The Developer does not operate a database, server, or analytics pipeline for this Add-on. The Developer has no ability to access, export, or delete your data because the Developer never receives it in the first place — all data described above lives entirely within the user's own Google account.
Your use of the Gemini API is subject to Google's own terms and privacy practices for that API, which you agreed to when you created your API key. Review Google's Gemini API Additional Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google itself handles data sent to Gemini.
3. Data Protection Mechanisms for Sensitive Data
We implement robust technical, administrative, and physical security measures to safeguard any sensitive data processed by the Application against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
-
Encryption in Transit and at Rest: All data transferred between the Google Doc, our Application servers, and the Google Gemini API is encrypted using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS).
-
Minimal Retention: The Application operates on a stateless processing model where possible. Document text is processed transiently to generate feedback and is not permanently stored on our proprietary servers following the delivery of the requested insights.
-
Access Controls: Access to administrative systems, logs, and infrastructure is strictly limited to authorized personnel who are bound by strict confidentiality obligations.
4. User Rights and Choices
You retain full ownership of your document content. You may revoke the Application's access to your Google account at any time by visiting your Google Account security settings at [https://myaccount.google.com/permissions](https://myaccount.google.com/permissions). Revoking access will immediately terminate the Application's ability to read your documents or provide feedback.
5. Children's privacy
This Add-on is intended for adult seminary students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
6. Limited Use Compliance Statement
The use of raw or derived user data received from Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or regulatory requirements. We will post any updates on this page and revise the effective date listed above.
